Oakland Warehouse Fire death toll rises

The deadliest blaze in the United States since 2003 has now claimed 36 lives. Police investigating the warehouse fire in Oakland, California have confirmed the identities of 11 of the victims so far.

The two-storey converted warehouse, known as the “Ghost Ship”, was being used by an artists’ collective, where approximately 100 people were partying on Friday night. The fire began just before midnight, and although the causes are currently unknown, a criminal investigation has been launched.

Fire officials have said so far, that clutter fuelled the flames, there were no sprinklers inside and few exits to escape through.
